EnergySolutions is hiring nuclear welders for the fall outage season!
A Nuclear Combo Welder is a highly skilled professional responsible for the safe application of welding techniques to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials within a nuclear facility. This role requires a deep understanding of welding processes to ensure the precise and reliable operation of critical equipment. You will interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to perform welding processes, ensuring all work complies with relevant codes. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including meeting fitness for duty requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform all job duties safely according to requirements.
Demonstrate proper use and care of hand tools and measuring devices.
Pass the welder qualification test according to job specifications and appropriate codes.
Properly purge and monitor stainless steel piping.
Demonstrate proper use and care of power tools.
Demonstrate proper use and care of a welding machine.
Perform acceptable welds in all positions according to job requirements and governing codes.
Weld must be able to pass a bend or x-ray test.
Perform cleanup duties.
Apply craft-related math skills.
Perform acceptable work at varying heights (such as ladders, scaffolds, etc.).
Ensure proper ventilation for welding (e.g., hexavalent chromium).
Wear a respirator as needed (blood pressure no higher than 150/90).
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
3+ years of experience.
Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired.
Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements.
Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc.
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools.
Availability for shift work, if needed.
Ability to support other crafts as requested.
Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels).
Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.
Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures.
Ability to pass specific training and qualifications.
Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening.
