Job Description

Loads and packs materials into containers for transportation, operates a forklift and other heavy equipment as required and provides support as a spotter for material movements.  Operates specialized sorting, segregation, size reduction, and repackaging operations in strict accordance with procedures. Complies with company policies, practices and procedures regarding human rights and health and safety. Treats everyone, including customers and co-workers, with respect. Reports health and safety breaches to supervisor immediately.
 
  • Follows all safety rules, procedures and regulations. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Receives oral and/or written instructions from supervisors and Lead Radiation Safety Technicians. Reads and interprets equipment, operations and procedures manuals, as well as waste processing specifications, to be accountable for activities within assigned areas.
  • Operates machinery as required.
  • Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed following the company’s radiological and conventional safety procedures.
  • Documents work tasks.
  • Unloads, identifies, weighs and processes materials through site processes.
  • Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly facility inspection rounds to ensure safety systems are within tolerances.
  • Demonstrates familiarization with multiple processes such as special waste, material processes, decontamination, dismantling of equipment for disposal, warehouse/yard and tracking systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements/Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong general knowledge of processes and procedures to perform work in zones safely
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (hot or cold)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, i.e. portable ladders, fixed ladders, , etc.
  • Work variable shifts
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma completion required.
  • Required Experience: None
  • Preferred Experience: No specific work experience required but some experience working in a customer service or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Certifications: Fork lift license preferred.
