Serve as the lead Health Physicist for projects as required providing support for field operations
Provides Health Physics support to waste operations. Provides overall Radiation Protection oversight for waste
processing projects and facility activities. Performs waste characterization calculations and prepares and reviews
reports. Supports international waste shipments, as required.
? Provides Health Physics support to the Radiation Safety Program and its implementation. Assists the RSO in the
areas of CNSC and regulatory compliance, including the writing of Radiation Work Permits (RWP), Radiation Risk
Assessments (RRA) and procedures. Develops and delivers Radiation Protection training to staff.
? Manages a group of frontline staff in their operational activities. Supervises, coaches, mentors, guides,
disciplines and develops frontline staff to achieve company objectives. Completes performance appraisals for
direct reports and discusses final review with manager before finalizing. Communicates and supports company
policies and ensures compliance.
? Provides project management and support services to customers and Health Physics support for field operations.
Manages and supports Decontamination & Decommissioning projects, as required.
Assists in the preparation of proposals and quotations in response to Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
Provides support to on-call Health Physics emergency response, as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements/Skills
Good Communication Skills
Comprehensive Computer knowledge (Outlook, Word, Excel, Microshield, etc)
Understanding of Radioactive Waste disposal Business
Good command of spoken and written English
Thorough understanding of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), supporting regulations and associated Federal Acts
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work as part of and manage and organize a team
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent degree) in Health Physics or comparable scientific subject
Required Experience: 3 years working in operational radiation protection environment. Experience working as a team member. Experience with personnel, field and laboratory based radiation detection instruments preferred.
Attend Quality Management System Training
Certifications: Full Driving License. Passport essential.
