A nuclear insulator will perform insulation tasks including installation, maintenance, and removal of insulation materials. Ensure compliance with safety and project procedures. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including meeting fitness for duty requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform all job duties according to job requirements.
Install wire reinforcement and apply insulation tapes.
Clean work areas and remove scrap materials.
Apply jacket coverings and install metal flashing.
Demonstrate proper use and care of hand tools (both power and manual).
Remove insulation and read/interpret craft-related blueprints.
Assemble and disassemble prefab scaffolding.
Identify and understand hazards of insulation materials.
Mix insulation cements and perform craft-related math.
Cut materials to specifications and apply cement and mastic coatings.
Install molded or preformed insulation to pipes and vessels.
Perform proper asbestos abatement.
Lift at least 50 pounds.
Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
3+ years of experience.
Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements.
Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired.
Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc.
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools.
Availability for shift work, if needed.
Ability to support other crafts as requested.
Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels).
Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.
Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures.
Ability to pass specific training and qualifications.
Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening.
