Job Summary
Primary job responsibility is to the Reactor Project Program while working on the Reactor Vessel Internals and Reactor Vessel Segmentation project objectives such as conducting research and performing investigations to identify, abate, and remove sources of radioactive waste.   Also responsible for providing support to field projects as directed by the Program VP, Project Director, and or Field Project manager.  As such, duties include supporting the Reactor Project Manager on project assignments. Also works closely with project team members to develop and maintain general project management plans, track project status, and provide risk and issue management support. The preferred candidate should have a solid career background in mechanical engineering design (preferably including CAD modeling, analysis, and design) and demonstrate the ability to work in a professional team environment.  Upon selection, the candidate will support various ongoing projects to gain familiarization with the ES programs and processes.  In the long term, the individual will help the organization develop “Best Practices” guidelines for Project mechanical engineering activities.

Job Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities
  1. For projects assigned, responsible for supporting Project Managers in the execution of management activities from project startup to project closeout.
  2. Responsible for facilitating the resolution of issues associated with management assessments, training requirements, and QA audits associated with projects assigned.
  3. Responsible for tracking and facilitating the resolution of issues concerning regulatory assessments and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) inspections.
  4. Provides consultation or expert advice on Reactor Program procedure compliance, corporate policies, and Best Management Practices to Project Managers and Project Director.
  5. Coordinates development of projects, including scope development, estimates, project schedules, and coordination with user departments and Project Managers.
  6. Review project documents for compliance; review progress and final project plans for completeness.
  7. Reads and interprets plans and specifications; reviews activities while in progress and upon completion to ensure conformance with plans, practices, and established work methods and procedures.
  8. Facilitates corrective actions as needed. Assists Project in areas of Corrective Action Products (CAP)
  9. Responsible for bringing to the attention of the Project Manager any coordination issues that would adversely affect the project safety, schedule, or cost.
  10. Assists with the creation of project schedules, and keeps Project Managers informed of current progress against the established schedule. Coordinates providing updated schedules as requested by the Project Manager or required by project contract document.
  11. Responsible for concepts, writing, facilitating, and executing rigging plans and rigging evolutions as they pertain to the project.
  12. Facilitates the review and approval of project plans, scheduling, funding, project procedures, staffing, risks, contingency plans, and resource allocation.
  13. Provides recommendations for solutions regarding project issues and implements solutions to issues as they occur.
  14. Assists in the preparation of proformas and project management activity reports.
  15. Assists the Project Manager in cost analyses, reconciliations, and reporting associated with month-end closing.
  16. Attends meetings as required, sets up and facilitates meetings as required, assists in compiling and maintaining action item lists, and assists in notetaking for said meetings.
  17. Develops and maintains project reports.
  18. Performs frequent field walk-downs and evaluations.
  19. Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs for equipment/components
  20. Develop and design storyboards using SolidWorks or other 3D software as project needs dictate.
  21. Develop and design Models using Solidworks.
  22. Develop drawings using Solidworks.
  23. Assists in equipment design and modification.
  24. Develop Cutting and Packaging Plans. Maintains and manages, maintenance and coordination for shipments with radiological experts.
  25. Assists in Project close-out activities as defined by the Project Director or Project Manager.
  26. Develop radiological-related controls, programs, plans, and procedures as supplements to work permits and improvements to work packages specifying required protective clothing and measures.
  27. Develop and assist in the development of Work packages and work instructions.
  28. Perform calculations, analyze data, and prepare reports to support waste operations as far as the Waste Group is unable to perform this work, or as a means of verifying the work aforementioned performed by the Waste Group.
  29. Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required in engineering or science-related degree
Certifications
  • None required
Required Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years experience or demonstrated ability to work with and/or direct a diverse group of technical and professional personnel
Preferred Experience
  • Work as a Mechanical Engineer at a high-level capacity
  • Professional Engineering License

  • Must be able to receive a nuclear clearance and receive unescorted access to and nuclear facility
