Inspects, maintains and repairs EnergySolutions vehicles and mobile heavy equipment. Performs welding, lubrication, fueling, required preventive maintenance and field repair duties on all mobile equipment as assigned. Identifies all mechanical components in need of repair to prevent mechanical breakdowns. Recommends improvements as appropriate.
Operates and inspects vehicles and other mobile equipment to identify equipment defects, malfunctions and failures. Repairs and replaces damaged and worn parts. Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. These tasks are necessary to ensure smooth company operations.
Reports defects and damages to supervision.
Tests and makes adjustments to mechanical components and equipment after repairs or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications and company safety standards.
Uses a number of sophisticated tools including electrical, hydraulic and engine testing and diagnostic equipment; welding torches; jacks; hoists and hand tools (e.g., wrenches). Uses computer systems to help diagnose the cause of some problems with heavy equipment.
Fuels and lubricates equipment and performs preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Documents repairs and refurbishments.
Communicates with the supervisor/foreman regarding parts and repair orders.
Performs scheduled preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
Maintains lockout/tagout logs.
There is no supervision of other workers at this level.
Responsible for the quality of his/her own work and satisfying customer (internal and external) specifications.
Must be able to work independently and resolve practical problems.
Must complete process/facility training as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated ability to perform all types of equipment maintenance and repairs (diesel/gas and propane engine overhauls, transmission repairs and hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and air conditioning system and component repairs)
Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
Education
High School diploma or GED
Certifications
Certification as a diesel mechanic or light vehicle mechanic
Required Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience with the maintenance and repair of mobile material handling and heavy equipment (diesel engine overhauls, transmission repairs, hydraulic systems and electrical and mechanical equipment)
