EnergySolutions is hiring Nuclear General Valve Technicians for the fall outage season.
The Nuclear General Valve Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of various types of valves used in nuclear power plant systems. This role ensures that all valve systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The technician will work closely with engineering, operations, and quality assurance teams to support plant reliability and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide range of valves including gate, globe, check, ball, butterfly, pressure relief, and control valves.
Disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, reassemble, and test valves in accordance with OEM specifications and nuclear industry standards.
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
Use precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to assess valve condition and performance.
Document all maintenance activities in accordance with plant procedures and regulatory requirements.
Adhere to all safety protocols, radiation protection guidelines, and quality assurance standards.
Support outage and refueling operations, including extended hours and shift work as needed.
Collaborate with engineering and QA/QC personnel to resolve technical issues and improve maintenance practices.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Qualifications: Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanical systems preferred.
Minimum 4 years of experience in valve maintenance, preferably in a nuclear or power generation environment.
Experience with ASME, ANSI, and NRC standards is highly desirable.
Certifications:
Nuclear plant access authorization (or ability to obtain).
Valve technician certification is a plus (EPRI, Vocational School, Valve Program).
OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER, or other safety certifications preferred.
Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and work packages.
Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, torque wrenches, and test equipment.
Excellent attention to detail and documentation practices.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in industrial and radiological environments.
May require climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in confined spaces or elevated areas.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including respiratory protection.
Subject to background checks and drug testing per nuclear regulatory requirements.
