Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Facilitates the start up, mobilization, resourcing and adoption of key infrastructure and management processes of new major projects. Provides expert consultation to Project Managers.

JOB DUTIES/TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Facilitates training and achievement of qualifications for candidate project managers and key personnel.
•    Secures and develops shared capabilities (internal and external) with other business groups for support of major projects.
•    Ensures Project Managers are implementing best practices for project management processes and systems.
•    Facilitates resources to assist in the evaluation of bids and contracts with subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
•    Contributes and manages periodic independent peer reviews at project and/or topical subject levels. The reviews will include the review of project schedules, covering the sequencing of activities, critical path analysis, effects of baseline changes on costs and profitability, etc. and project cost estimates and associated resourcing profiles.
•    Facilitates the “cross fertilization” of industry best practices and coordination of communication across major projects.
•    Aids in the selection, specification and implementation of project management systems.
•    Assists with and provides specialist resources for project demobilization and closeout, including placement of exiting key project staff.
•    Supports contributions to enterprise wide support activities (e.g. Oracle and other company wide developments) and across inter-business group activity.
•    Provides temporary project management support to projects including the direct role responsibilities if and as requested.
•    Coordinates and procures resources for project audits as necessary.
•    Responsible for full broader aspects related to project management support.
•    Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education

•    Bachelor's degree required in Engineering or an Operations related field

Certifications
•    Must have, or be working towards, the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Required Experience
•    5 or more years experience in project management
•    5 or more years experience in operational analysis
•    5 or more years experience in project planning and implementation and engineering management
•    Previous experience budgeting, monitoring and scheduling work
•    Previous experience managing engineering resources, including external resources

Preferred Experience
•    None

REQUIRED AND DESIRED SKILLS
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Intermediate knowledge of current enterprise systems used by the company
•    Proficient with project control systems and office system applications

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
•    Ability to handle and carry up to 25 pounds; reach below shoulder
•    Ability to use hands to accomplish tasks as assigned
•    Ability to sit, stand and walk
•    Ability to effectively communicate; pass audiogram in hearing conservation program as required by location
•    Ability to see close and distance; basic colors/shades
•    Ability to work inside an office
•    Ability to work alone, work with others, and interact with the public
•    Ability to drive a vehicle, travel overnight and perform under deadline pressure
