Job Description

Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Integrate into work plans and work packages waste requirements per waste processing procedures
  • Implementing requirements for testing for generated liquid wastes
  • Coordinating between LLRW and D&D to generate and implement treatment storage, disposal and waste packaging plans
  • Coordinating between LLRW and D&D to ensure any blocking and bracing requirements are met for waste packages
  • Oversee implementation of waste processing/packaging requirements
  • Backup to all SNMC/Part 37 scope requirements
    • Performing 10 CFR 74 required inventories of special nuclear material
    • Prepare / submit 10 CFR 74 required regulatory material balance and material transaction reporting per NMMSS (Nuclear Materials Management and Safeguards System)
    • Prepares/manages execution of nuclear fuel procedures:
    • Integrating SNM requirements (SNM tags, SNM storage areas) into work packages
    • Manages engineering assessment process to assign SNM values to pieces/components as they are removed from the plant
    • Oversees development of cut and package plans for SNM containing wastes
    • Develops approved storage container / approved storage area packages
  • Develop canister content “summary data packages” which will contain all of the associated OQE associated with FBM canisters, cluding:
    • Fabrication / inspection records
    • Approving of loading procedures
    • Approving canister content (SNM and total activity)
    • Closure records (Welding, NDT, helium backfill)
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Waste Processing Manager.

Job Requirements/Skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Profricient in Microsoft office
  • intermediate knowledge of industry codes and regulations

Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to carry up to 15 pounds; handle and reach below shoulder
  • Ability to use hands to accomplish tasks as assigned
  • Ability to effectively communicate; pass audiogram in hearing conservation program as required by location
  • Ability to see close and distance and basic colors/shades
  • Ability to work alone, interact with the public, and perform under deadline pressure
  • Ability to work outdoor and indoor activities under various conditions

Minimum Education and Experience
Education
  • Bachelor's degree or high school graduate with 8 years experience or equivalent
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience

Preferred Experience
  • Previous Nuclear Power Plant Experience
  • Previous Radioactive Waste Experience
