Job Summary
Primary job responsibility is to the Reactor Program while working on the Reactor Vessel Internals and Reactor Vessel Segmentation project objectives, such as but not limited to; conducting research, developing new processes and procedures for segmentation and downsizing, and performing investigations to identify, abate, and remove sources of radioactive waste. Secondary job responsibilities include developing robotic hardware and software, robotic/laser support equipment, and robotic/laser processes and procedures. Designing prototypes, testing machines, and maintaining software used to control robots and robotic arms are also among the responsibilities. This job will require research in various areas of robotics and research in the latest innovations in the field. Robotics system engineers design and develop robotic systems, use computer-aided design (CAD) software, statistical analysis, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to develop software interfaces for sensors, controllers, and other hardware. They also program and adjust sensors, vision systems, and robotic arms.

Job Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Manage Robotic Engineers as they execute their daily functions.
  • Manage Laser Engineers as they execute their daily functions.
  • Manage System Engineers as they execute their daily functions.
  • Develop Robotic System Engineering Skills in subordinates.
  • Develop Automation, Innovation, and Technology initiatives within ES.
  • For projects assigned, responsible for supporting and directing Project Managers and or Project Engineers in the execution of management activities from project startup to project closeout.
  • Developing robotic hardware and software.
  • Design prototypes, test machines, and maintain software used to control them.
  • Research various areas of robotics and the latest innovations in the field.
  • Develop robotic and laser support equipment for use in the decommissioning arena.
  • Develop robotic and laser processes and procedures for use in the decommissioning arena.
  • Develop robotic and laser training material.
  • Reads and interprets plans and specifications; reviews activities while in progress and upon completion to ensure conformance with plans, practices, and established work methods and procedures.
  • Facilitates corrective actions as needed. Assists Project in areas of Corrective Action Products (CAP).
  • Responsible for bringing to the attention of the Project Manager any coordination issues that would adversely affect the project safety, schedule, or cost.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification Requirements
Education
  • Master’s Degree in Robotic Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering
AND
  • Bachelor's Degree in Robotic Systems Engineering or Laser Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering 
Certifications
  • None required
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years industry related experience
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience or demonstrated ability to work with and/or direct a diverse group of technical and professional personnel
Preferred Experience
  • Work as a Robotics Engineer at a high-level capacity
  • Managed Robotics Engineering Team

Job Requirements/Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Be proficient in CAD software, specifically Solidworks
  • Be proficient in C++
  • Be proficient in design control
  • Be proficient in chemical compatibility,
  • Be proficient in geometric dimensions and tolerance, statistical analysis, programming, and adjusting sensors
  • Be proficient in the field of control systems.

  • Intermediate knowledge of accounting and financial reporting
  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel

  • Ability to multi-task, working on several projects simultaneously under strict deadlines
  • Effective interpersonal  skills
  • Must be adaptable, and versatile with excellent administrative and facilitation skills

  • Must have the capacity to travel to Nuclear sites
  • Must be able to receive a nuclear clearance and receive unescorted access to and nuclear facility
