Job Description

Job Summary
Is responsible for implementing the Final Status Survey (FSS) Program at a site/facility or within various radiation safety disciplines, including managing staff. Ensures facilities and projects comply with applicable policies and procedures regarding FSS.

Job Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements FSS related plans and enforces compliance.
  • Assures FSS records are maintained in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.  Initially compiles FSS reports and submission of reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains lists of FSS related plans and progress and status of plan approvals and implementation.
  • Provides oversight, direction and training to organization staff to ensure all FSS activities related to a site, program, project, function and/or facility process(es) are conducted in compliance with established rules, regulations, policies and procedures and to ensure high quality products and services for EnergySolutions customers.
  • Supports various radiation safety disciplines such as instrumentation, laboratory and health physics.
  • Assures samples are taken and maintained in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.  Initially evaluates data to determine compliance to applicable action levels and trending.
  • Manages the development and implementation of training programs for staff on technical compliance procedures.
  • Interfaces with client and regulators.
  • Develops and implements FSS procedures for radiation safety staff.
  • Provides training for radiation safety staff to ensure compliance with FSS procedures.
  • Manages the revision and implementation of FSS procedures in response to changes in Decommissioning or License Termination Plans.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains Isolation and Control measures for FSS.
  • Follows organizational policies and procedures and ensures staff is in compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologist (NRRPT) certification preferred
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in operational health physics

  • General knowledge of the interpretation of  local, state and federal radiation safety compliance regulations
  • General knowledge of the principles and practices of radiation safety
  • General  knowledge of, and skill in using, radiation monitoring and laboratory procedures and methods and instrumentation related to radiation safety
  • General knowledge of FSS processes and survey requirements and one or more of the following areas: global positioning systems and software, operational health physics, instrumentation, and laboratory operations
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze and report qualitative and quantitative data
  • Intermediate knowledge of  Microsoft Office products and their use (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and database applications
