This position is located in Tiverton Ontario - Salary Range: $70,000 - $77,550
Responsible for field implementation of the facility radiation program. Complies with company, local, provincial and federal radiation safety policies and regulations. Monitors radiological work controls and work activities involving radioactive material. Interprets and verifies field data obtained from radiation surveys using the appropriate instrumentation and/or analyses. Assists in the implementation of safety rules, regulations and procedures. Stays current on local, provincial, federal and EnergySolutions policies and procedures concerning shipment/transportation of radioactive materials.
Assists in the implementation of safety rules, regulations and procedures. Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in controlled areas. Conducts daily, weekly and monthly facility inspection rounds to ensure safety systems are within tolerances. Participates in the Facility Radiation Safety Program by performing the safe collection, storage, packing, transportation and subsequent disposal of radioactive material. Participates in emergency preparation drills and emergency response.
Receives oral and/or written instructions from managers and supervisors. Reads and interprets equipment, operations and procedures manuals, as well as waste processing specifications, to be accountable for activities within assigned areas. Operates machinery as required. Unloads, identifies, weighs and processes materials through site processes.
Issues radiation work permits and briefs personnel on radiological conditions and work requirements. Develops and writes radiation safety procedures. Performs and documents radiological instrumentation reviews, evaluations and investigations.
Conducts routine and as required radiological surveys. Responds to any incident or emergency regarding radionuclides. Maintains proper incident response equipment and supplies. Operates radiological counting and detection and air sampling equipment. Maintains equipment supplies and availability. Maintains field radiation protection records such as survey logs and radiation work permit entry and exit records.
Demonstrates familiarization with multiple processes such as special waste, material processing, decontamination, dismantling of equipment for disposal, warehouse/yard and tracking systems.
Provides training and implements monitoring programs to protect personnel from radiation hazards.
Assists in the investigation and documentation of radiological occurrences and/or other Corrective Action Program issues and events and recommends long-term corrective action.
Performs other duties as assigned.
