Inspects, maintains and repairs EnergySolutions vehicles and mobile heavy equipment. Performs welding, lubrication, fueling, required preventive maintenance and field repair duties on all mobile equipment as assigned. Identifies all mechanical components in need of repair to prevent mechanical breakdowns. Recommends improvements as appropriate.
Operates and inspects vehicles and other mobile equipment to identify equipment defects, malfunctions and failures. Repairs and replaces damaged and worn parts. Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. These tasks are necessary to ensure smooth company operations.
Reports defects and damages to supervision.
Tests and makes adjustments to mechanical components and equipment after repairs or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications and company safety standards.
Uses a number of sophisticated tools including electrical, hydraulic and engine testing and diagnostic equipment; welding torches; jacks; hoists and hand tools (e.g., wrenches). Uses computer systems to help diagnose the cause of some problems with heavy equipment.
Fuels and lubricates equipment and performs preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer
specifications.
Documents repairs and refurbishments.
Communicates with the supervisor/foreman regarding parts and repair orders.
Performs scheduled preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
Follows lockout/tagout procedures.
May lead and direct the work of mobile equipment maintenance technician staff.
Provides training to mobile equipment maintenance technician staff as needed.
Responsible for ensuring mobile equipment maintenance technician staff are qualified to perform their work.
Responsible for the safety performance of other mobile equipment maintenance technicians.
Responsible for leading and instructing others as needed or assigned. Able to fill in for leadership positions as need. Ensuring information for their own and other’s jobs are accurate and completed on time.
May perform Lead/Foreman responsibilities as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements/Skills
Extensive knowledge of MP2 maintenance systems and the parts ordering system
Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and team player attitude
Demonstrated ability to repair and maintain vehicles and material handling and heavy equipment (over-the-road trucks, cement mixers, loaders, dozer and excavators)
Demonstrated ability to perform all types of equipment maintenance and repairs (diesel/gas and propane engine overhauls, transmission repairs and hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and air conditioning system and component repairs)
Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
Ability to schedule tasks assigned to other mobile equipment maintenance technicians
Ability to develop and communicate work steps required to maintain and repair mobile material handling and heavy equipment
Ability to handle more complex work and work broader in scope such as more than one subject matter area of focus
Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to perform physically demanding work
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and environments wherein there is exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, chemicals and mechanical and electrical hazards
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to perform maintenance duties at elevated heights
Ability to effectively communicate; speaking, reading, understanding, writing and hearing clear English; pass audiogram in hearing conservation program as required by location
Certified radiation worker including IHS, security, and HAZMAT; Forklift certification
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
Education
High School diploma or GED
Certifications
Certification as a diesel mechanic or light vehicle mechanic
Certified Welder as required by location
Preferred certifications: HVAC, ASE, Heavy equipment repair, Hydraulics, etc.
Required qualifications: Carry deck, service truck, crane operator, lift truck and RT lift truck
Required Experience
A minimum of 7 years of experience with the maintenance and repair of mobile material handling and heavy equipment
Proficient in all repairs
