A nuclear painter will perform painting tasks including surface preparation, application of primers and finish coatings, and maintenance of painting equipment. Ensure compliance with safety and project procedures. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including meeting fitness for duty requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness and operating condition of equipment and tools.
Perform cleanup duties and ensure good housekeeping.
Operate sandblasting equipment and perform proper lead abatement.
Mix, store, and transport primer and finish coatings per manufacturer’s specifications.
Demonstrate proper use and care of surface preparation tools and equipment.
Maintain equipment, including disassembly and reassembly, to specific requirements.
Apply finish coatings per project procedures using finishing equipment.
Demonstrate proper storage, handling, and use of chemicals per proper procedure.
Prepare surfaces and apply primer per project procedures.
Lift at least 50 pounds and pass written tests and proficiency exams.
Pass a vision test and be able to wear a respirator. Blood pressure must not exceed 150/90.
Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of experience.
Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired.
Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements.
Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc.
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools.
Availability for shift work, if needed.
Ability to support other crafts as requested.
Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels).
Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.
Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures.
Ability to pass specific training and qualifications.
Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening.
