Responsible for collection, unpacking, processing and repacking and/or disposition of low level radioactive waste. Responsible for operational functions such as material handling and facility housekeeping. Responsible for complying with health and safety laws and with internal policies, procedures, work instructions, job safety procedures and practices.
Collects, receives, unloads, identifies, sorts, weighs, decontaminates and otherwise processes low level radioactive material and reduces sealed source volumes.
Maintains databases and records associated with inventory control. Maintains logs, manifests, records and reports to maintain the identity of materials.
Follow all safety rules, regulations and procedures. Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in a contaminated zone following the company’s health physics regulations, guidelines and procedural documentation. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Undertakes national and international radioactive waste shipments. Prepares bills of lading for transportation of materials. Review, problem solves, performs data entry and quality checks on documentation of radioactive waste materials and out-going radioactive shipments to ensure data is accurately tracked from receipt, through all operation processes to final departure of the material from the facility.
Undertakes facility support services as required.
Conduct facility radiation and contamination surveys as required.
Provides technical support to the on-call Health Physicists as required on a rota basis.
Receives oral and/or written instructions from supervisors. Reads and interprets equipment, operational and procedural manuals, as well as waste processing specifications and is accountable for waste processing activities.
Operates specialized tools and equipment, including forklift and other heavy equipment as required. Performs radioactive waste pickups from customer sites.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
Required Education: High School diploma completion.
Preferred Education: Grade 12 science and math. Radiation Safety certificate/diploma.
Required Experience: None
Preferred Experience: One year of radiation, customer service operations or warehouse experience. Class G driver’s license with clean driving record.
